A dedicated IP address is an IP address assigned specifically to your account for your sole use. This IP address is not shared with other accounts on a shared server and is used only by you.

A dedicated IP is required to provide a separate dedicated channel for the encrypted data to flow between the client (browser) and the server usually called the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

Note:  only one dedicated IP can be assigned to one cPanel account.

If you are a reseller, you may have several dedicated IP addresses under your WHM. Dedicated IPs for resellers are required for installing private nameservers, SSL and for assigning cPanel accounts to them.
